Transport Ops Committee
RGIP is located away from Pune and PCMC and public transport too is not adequate to cater to the large workforce. With this in mind, HIA took upon itself the responsibility of providing bus transport for all its employees. The Transport Operations Committee (TOC) was thus formed to undertake this onerous task. Quickly studying the requirements and constraints of the situation, the TOC established METROZIP – the service that picks up employees from all corners of Pune and PCMC in safe, comfortable and well-maintained buses and safely drops them home after office. It was truly a mammoth task to get the approvals from RTO, Regional Transport Authority and the Govt of Maharashtra for a unique service that was a first of its kind in India. The dedicated efforts of the TOC bore fruits when the service was launched in Aug 2014. From a small fleet of just 10 buses, Metrozip grew to a fleet of over 170 buses and continues to provide transportation serviceto the employees. The sub-committee has to work on a near daily basis to ensure that the buses run smoothly and on schedule, there are no complaints, and grievances if any are addressed immediately. The training and welfare of the drivers and other staff is also looked into on a regular basis and frequent checks are conducted to certify that regulations of the RTO are adhered to without fail. Running Metrozip requires a very dedicated effort and commitment, and the TOC members go all out to ensure they keep the flag flying.
